Improving the Inbox

Fellow Professional Organizer Aby Garvey has written an excellent article on clearing up and organizing the dreaded email Inbox, and she offers great tips on managing it for the future.

I'm using some of her tips now including: 1) deleting old messages in bite size sessions - a few each day and I'll soon be back to my 1 page-full goal; 2)using the email's sorting options to make the de-cluttering step easier; and 3)setting up and consistently using more sub-folders.

It's a quick and simple read, and I bet you'll find some useful tips. Go HERE for the whole article.

Thanks, Aby!!

Get It Done!

I'll be reviewing a new book just launching today "The Get it Done Guy's 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More" by Stever Roberts. Two chapters are available for FREE now on the website, and if they are any indication of the whole book, it's going to be a valuable and really fun ride/read!!!

Four of Stever's 9 Steps include: living and working on purpose, conquering technology (I REALLY need this one), cultivating focus, and how to stop procrastinating. I am so passionate about the topic of this book. In fact the most rewarding part of my business is teaching and speaking to groups about focusing on the vital parts of life and being truly present, editing out the unimportant, and making everything else as simple and convenient as possible.

The pre-release chapter on Procrastination offers great tips presented in an easy to read, witty, and utterly charming style. Sounds like a dreary topic - one you'd like to put off, right?? Heh heh. Anyway....he compares the breaking of projects into small "chunks" to speed dating.

His quote: "We'll even talk to someone who doesn't floss when we know we can move on in a mere three minutes. When a task seems endless we're terrified, because deep down, we fear getting trapped. Marriage has no end point: meditate on that and despair." Made me laugh out loud!! However the point is dead on - we can do anything for a few minutes.

I'll offer a more in-depth review once I receive and read the whole book. Should be a blast!
